The nex EBLC in Helsinki in 2011

The EBLC brings top executives and experts together to discuss Europe's challenges and opportunities in an informal setting

About the Northern Light

European Business Leaders’ Convention (EBLC) is a forum for forward-looking discussion on Europe’s challenges and opportunities. The aim is to deepen our understanding of pivotal issues affecting European companies and the future of Europe as a whole. To meet this end, the EBLC organises discussion events yearly on topics ranging from the future of euro to the economic challenges posed by India and China.

Northern Light summits take place in Finland every two years. The previous summit was organised in July 2011 under the theme "Rebuilding Europe – How to Secure European Competitiveness in a Radically Changed World?"

Northern Light special meetings are arranged in different locations depending on the subject matter at hand. In May 2010 was held a meeting at the European Commission Headquarters in Brussels under the theme “The New European Agenda – The European Business Leaders’ Convention meets the New Commission”.

Participation in Northern Light  events is by invitation only and restricted to most high-level business leaders, politicians and experts. Participants have included, among others, Dr Josef Ackermann, Deutsche Bank; Dr Corrado Antonini, Fincantieri; Dr José Manuel Barroso, the European Commission; Sir Win Bischoff, Lloyds Banking Group; Mr Anatoly Chubais, RUSNANO; Mr Alexey A. Mordashov, Severstal; Dame Marjorie Scardino, Pearson Group; and Mr Michael Treschow, Unilever.

Discussions in Northern Light events are off the record unless otherwise indicated.
